The headline on this story in the WSJ is, “Obama Seeking Fresh Thinking”.
“Sometimes policy making in Washington can become a little bit too ingrown, a little bit too insular,” Mr. Obama told reporters in Chicago. “The walls of the echo chamber can sometimes keep out fresh voices and new ways of thinking.”
The story is about a new White House Advisory Board on the economy. So who does he pick to head this panel of fresh thinkers? 81-year-old Paul Volcker. I guess digging up J.P. Morgan wasn’t an option….
And do we really need another group of economists to advise the President? He’s got the Council of Economic Advisors, the National Economic Council and the Treasury Secretary. How many opinions does he need? On the other hand, maybe all these opinions will just paralyze him and he’ll end up doing nothing. Nah, that’s too much to hope for…
